*BLAZERS have been ordered for those who fundraised for them/signed up for them. They should be here before Region Meeting but must be paid in full either with fundraising or personal payment before being able to take home.
· Senior parents, friends, and businesses are invited to purchase a "Grad. Ad." to appear in the next edition of the Hisodak. The block would feature a congratulatory message for either the Class of 2025 or an individual senior student, as well as a picture if desired. Please contact Mrs. Bast (amanda.bast@k12.sd.us) if you are interested. Prices start at $45 (1/8 page). Ads up to ½ page may be purchased.
· Free College Application Period October 1 to November 30,2024
o Students can complete the 2025-26 FAFSA in December
o Students seeking financial aid for the 2025-26 academic year should plan to complete the FAFSA after December 1, 2024.
· The 2025 NRECA Youth Tour is an excellent experience for any high school junior or senior! The all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., is scheduled for June 15-21, 2025. Applicants' parents do not need to be members of Dakota Energy Cooperative. We welcome all junior or senior students to apply. Applicants must complete an application and write a 500-word essay answering, "Why is it important to be involved in your community, and how does it prepare you to be a future leader?" The application deadline is Friday, December 13, 2024. See Ms. Bergeson for the application.
· Any junior girl who is interested in applying for American Legion Auxiliary Girls’ State, see Ms. Bergeson for more information
· Seniors, if you haven’t decided your plans for after high school, maybe you should consider Court Reporter. This is a high need career and not a lot of people are going into it anymore. You can get a job ANYWHERE! And the pay is incredible! See Ms. Bergeson for more information.
Scholarship Opportunities:
· The SDSWMA Scholarship Program, an entity of the South Dakota Solid Waste Management Association (SDSWMA), provides scholarships annually to students pursuing vocational trade degrees for Heavy Equipment Operations, Diesel Technology, Millwrights, Environmental Technicians, GPS/Computer Technicians, etc. Preference is given to South Dakota residents intending to study at South Dakota colleges. Ms. Bergeson has emailed out the application to all the seniors and their parents. If you wanted this application and didn’t receive it, please let Ms. Bergeson know.
· Agtegra Cooperative is offering a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors and college students!
o High school seniors or former students/current college students are planning to attend a post-secondary institution in South Dakota or North Dakota for an agricultural degree/career path, we encourage them to apply for our scholarship program. We are awarding ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and one $1,000 scholarship to a current college student through this program.
§ Eligibility Requirements:
§ 3.0 minimum GPA
§ Must plan to or attend a 2- or 4-year post-secondary institution in South Dakota or North Dakota
§ Must plan to pursue an agricultural degree/program or career field after college graduation
