Teacher Mentoring Program
Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, Highmore-Harrold has introduced and implemented a Teacher Mentoring Program. The idea behind this program is to assimilate new staff members and help new teachers "learn the ropes". Below is a basic outline of the mentorship program:
- Each new staff member is paired with an existing staff member, who then becomes that person's point of contact.
- The two staff members have regular meetings to provide any feedback or help the new staff member may need or ask for. Topics of conversation include policies and procedures, classroom management, technology integration, and even instructional strategies.
- Opportunities are created for a new staff member to observe the classrooms of existing staff members.
The goal of this program is to provide the required support new staff members need when entering our district.
