Communication

Communication is very important to our district.  From teachers to administration to the school board, we are committed to communicate with all stake-holders in our district, including students, parents, and the community at large.  Here are just some of the ways our district communicates what is happening in our school:

Teachers

  • Each teacher maintains a webpage on this site.  Most webpages contain some personal information, contact information, and even a copy of the teacher's lesson plans so you'll never wonder what what covered on a particular day.  This is very useful for students who miss school, or parents who want to keep up with what their students are learning each day.
  • Teachers are formally available for two nights each year for conferences from 2:30 - 8:00pm.
  • Every teacher has a publicly available email address.  Teachers and parents are encouraged to communicate regularly regarding student progress.
  • Each teacher uses Infinite Campus to track student grades.  Parents/Guardians and students have logins so they can view their academic progress in real time.
  • Many teachers send home letters or forms for parents/guardians to read and sign.

District

  • The district utilizes a "school reach" program through Infinite Campus, which alerts community members about school closings, changes, and activities.
  • In grades 7-12, the district employs an eligibility list to determine who may or may not participate in extra-curricular activities.  A letter is mailed each week to parents/guardians of students who find themselves on this list.
  • School board meetings are held every second Monday of each month in the business room of the high school.  These meetings are open to the public, and the public is encouraged to attend.  Minutes of the meeting are then published in the Highmore Herrald.
  • The district utilizes the webpage for myriad purposes.  On the webpage, you can find teacher contact info, announcements, schedules, and happenings for both the elementary and JH/HS schools.
