Hello! Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! My name is Kyra Hirsch, and I am pleased to work with your child this year. A little about myself....I am the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. This will be my fourth year at Highmore-Harrold School. I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from West Texas A&M University. After college I married my husband, Miles, and moved to our home near Harrold. We have two children, Hawkins and Houston.
My goal as a speech therapist is to help children gain confidence and communicate more effectively with their peers. I strongly feel that confidence and communication are two big keys to success. Successful communication can help build confidence, and confidence helps build successful learners.
I like to use a reward system to track good behavior and effort. All of my students have a sticker chart that will be kept in their personal folders. In order to receive a sticker on their chart the student must follow rules and work hard on their activity for the day. Once they have filled their sticker chart, they get a prize from the “Speech Treasure Chest”! I have found that the sticker chart is a great motivation for my students.
I am looking forward to another fun filled year with my speech kiddos! If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. Let the fun begin!!!
