November 13, 2017

 

            The Highmore-Harrold Board of Education met in regular session on November 13, 2017 in the business classroom at 7:00 pm. Members present: Michael Bollweg, Paul Knox, Rod Domke, Clint Buchholz, Jennifer Semmler,  Jim Stephenson; Superintendent Quinton Cermak, Mark Chilson Business Manager, Principal Grant Vander Vorst, Asst. Bus. Man. Jennifer Farstveet. Absent: Haiwick.

    Others present: Ken Jones, Natalie Leisinger, Taylor Ashdown. President Buchholz called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and the pledge of allegiance was recited.

    Semmler/Bollweg moved to approve the agenda. The motion passed.

    Knox/Stephenson moved to approve the minutes of the October 9 meeting. The motion passed.

    Bills and financial statements were reviewed and approved for payment on a motion by Knox/Semmler and read as follows:

    The motion passed.

    The Board viewed any conflicts and disclosures by Board members.

    The Board heard the Superintendent’s report including but not limited to FFA National Convention; X-mas concert Dec. 5th; American Education Week Nov. 13-17; Team Tuesday; Teacher Aide opening; Accountability Board 11/16; 6-man football survey;

    The Board heard the Principal’s report including but not limited to Love Your Neighbor Grant; mid-terms; monthly review and schedule; free epi-pens program; school lunch menu program; Lifescape student of the month.

    The Board heard a financial report from Business Manager Chilson and approved the acceptance of a two-year certificate at the highest rate quote received from Quoin Financial Bank.

    The Board held their first reading of Board Policy DFA--Revenues From Investments to read: Stephenson/Domke moved to hold the first reading of policy change to Interest earned on such investments will be credited to the capital outlay fund. The motion passed.

    The Board heard a buildings and grounds update.

     Domke/Bollweg moved to approve PRF #3 (tabled from October 9, 2017) $2,212 for flashing to Puetz Construction. The motion passed.

     Bollweg/Stephenson moved to approve Conflict of Interest Disclosure and Authorization AH, and Board Member conflict of Interest Policy BBFA. The motion passed.

    Knox/Semmler moved to enter executive session of the purpose of personnel SDCL: 1-25-2(1) at 7:32 pm. The motion passed.

    The Board came out of executive session at 7:56 pm.

    Domke/Semmler moved to approve credit change orders PRF #4 ($98.00) and PRF #5 ($359.00). The motion passed.

    Domke/Semmler moved to approve Open enrollments 2017C and 2017D. The motion passed.

    Domke/Bollweg moved to approve Jeff Damer and Jared Brueggeman as volunteer wrestling coaches and Ken Hoffman as Asst. Wrestling coach $2,591.00. The motion passed.

    The Board set their next regular meeting for December 11 at 6:30 pm in the business classroom.

    Domke/Knox moved to adjourn at 8:02 pm.  The motion passed.
