College visit dates

The representative from Mitchell Technical Institute will be on Tuesday, October 29 at 11:40am.  Any sophomore, junior or senior who is interested in what MTI has to offer is welcome to come to the conference room.

The representative from Lake Area Technical Institute will be here on Tuesday, October 29 at 9:30 A.M.  Any sophomore, junior, or senior who might be interested is welcome to visit with the rep in the conference room.

10:30 am on Wednesday, October 23 a representative from Augustana University will be here to visit with sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

SCRUBS Camp—Tuesday, October 22nd –open to Grades 9-12 interested in health careers

Senior Tech Day--Wednesday, Nov 6 & Wednesday, Feb 5th—open to all High School Seniors

BIG Camp Out—Tuesday, Dec 3rd--open to Grades 9-12 interested in any programs at LATI

Junior Tech Day--Wednesday, April 1st—open to all High School Juniors

Southeast Tech has NEW programs coming fall 2020: Veterinary Technician and Dental Assisting.

More geared for upperclassman who are interested in attending Southeast Tech in the near future!

Career Exploration Days: December 18 and May 13

Full Day Career Exploration event for all high school students 9 – 12. Students would need to select an industry to explore. All students will start and end together; however, they will explore the specific industry they signed up for.

An SDSU representative will be here on Monday, November 4 at 8:45 A.M. to visit with sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

 

MEETINGS

  • Meeting on Monday during lunchtime for any FCCLA members interested in running for region office. Stop down when you have free time, either 5a, 5B, or 5c

Ø  Any girls in grades 6-8 that are going out for junior high girls’ basketball that weren’t out for a fall sport, see Mr. Ring asap to get your required paperwork, practice starts Monday, October 28.  Any other winter athletes that weren’t out for a fall sport can start doing the same.

Ø  All this week is National School Lunchroom Week. There will be treats in the lunchroom each day.

Ø  Attention Juniors, Seniors:

o   The Huron Community Campus is offering an opportunity for students to complete an ACT study course over 4 weeks in Miller, SD! In order for the course to move forward, we would need to have a minimum of 20 students register for the course.  The course will be open to students from surrounding schools as well as Miller High School students. The cost of the course is $60 per student. The next ACT exam in Miller or Pierre is December 14, 2019. $60 (tentative price) ACT STUDY SESSION. Classes run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the following dates: November 3rd, November 10th. November 17th, November 24th. Interested parties need to sign up NO LATER than October 25th so we can determine if there is enough interest to move forward with the opportunity.  Please contact Courtney Van Zee to sign up or with any questions. Ø  The FCCLA Halloween Carnival will be Saturday, October 26 from 4:00-5:30.  All FCCLA members are expected to help unless they have a good reason to not be there. This is one of our big fundraisers and is fun so please try to make it there.  We would also take help from those NOT in FCCLA, if you are looking for community service for scholarship resumes or for Honor Society, etc., we will take all of the help we can get. We will set up after school on Friday, October 25.  Members can earn lots of Points for helping at these events!  I ask that members be to the gym b 3:00 on Saturday.  FCCLA parents would be more than welcome to come and help out as well.
