School Board Approves Change to Preschool

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

The Highmore-Harrold School Board approved a change to its preschool for the 2015-16 school year. Preschool will be held everyday next year. Students are split into a morning session and an afternoon session. Due to the early Friday releases...next year, students will attend on Fridays, alternating every other Friday morning.

One driving force behind the decision to add Fridays to preschool was that our state content standards are much more rigorous. "It is important for our students to gain the skills that will help prepare them for kindergarten and beyond." stated Superintendent Chip Sundberg. Sundberg continued, "They have done some great things in preschool and we want to continue the momentum of the program."

With the additional day the cost of tuition will raise to $125.00 per month for full tuition. If families qualify for free or reduced meals, those students would pay $75.00 for reduced meal prices, and tuition is free for families that qualify for free meals.

Mrs. Amy Webb is the preschool teacher. If you have any questions about preschool, please call the school, or you can contact Mrs. Webb via e-mail at Amy.Webb@k12.sd.us. The number to the school is 852-2275.
